Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know - Final Music Video
A) Logging Rushes
Review of Footage
I felt most of our footage was well shot, nicely framed & focused. With a lot of our shots, we made sure the lighting of the sun was in peak placement to make the shot bright and bring out the colours of the environment. In other shots, such as the actor walking down a darkened corridor, we change the focus to add a dramatic reveal to the character, this also added to the confusing and mystery of the video. The performer also put in his full effort which made the final shots seem more lively and powerful. We worked well as a group, storming ideas together while also expanding on our own ideas, which we all later shared and put to work in the final product. Everyone would bounce off each other's ideas, adding their own opinions or agreeing with an idea. This made us all understand what we wanted the final product to look like. There were a few scenes that were very hard to film in as they were very public, with people cycling and walking past in a lot of the shots. This meant we had to reshoot a lot which took up a bit more time but we managed to work around it and still pulled some excellent looking scenes. One of our biggest problems, however, was the change of story halfway through planning. Unfortunately due to issues with the crew and actor we had to change parts of the plot. Luckily it wasn't too much and we managed to pull it back together by working solidly as a group. Overall the shots seem very cinematic, well focused and full of colour and life. I'm very happy with our final shots.
Initial Edit Structure
Before filming, we arranged a lot of cinematic shots. We then talked about how and which shots would have lip syncing. We worked together to make sure we filmed the scenes in order and that the lip syncing was for the right part of the song. We'd also discuss what the shot would look like after editing, so we filmed a lot of overlay shots and said certain shots would look better after post editing. We kept our performer always informed so he knew what he was singing and where he was meant to be. We would play the music out loud for him to sync too and have the lyrics open for him to read. We also used the song from the original film to sync up in the edit.

Lip Syncing
As the song wasn't created by us, we couldn't use our actor's voice when singing in the video. To lip sync to make it seem like our actor was singing, we used a couple of techniques to help us make it look as correct as possible. To help the actor out, we got him to read through the lyrics a multitude of times, and got him to listen and sing along with the song before and after shoot sessions. We also played the song out loud when filming as we didn't use the camera's audio. As the song was playing while filming, the actor could lip sync making it look more authentic.
